What Are You Wearing? (Tips for Dressing for the Stage and Life)
“Ladies, what are you wearing?”
I’m not sure why the question bothered me. But the next comment bothered me more.
“Remember to dress on brand.”
A group of speakers were being coached for an up coming in-person speaking gig, and the question of ‘what are you wearing’ was a hot topic.
Knowing that everything I do, say, and yes, wear, is a part of my brand, only truly helps me if I’m at the point in life where I don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks, and am being my badass self.
How do I know I’m “there,” “there” meaning no fucks left to give?
I’m not sure, actually. Because I am writing this blog, I think I’m not completely there yet. I mean, I love when people compliment me. Who wouldn’t?
But the trick is detachment.
The trick is to not be attached to the high or the low. It’s to feel great about yourself no matter if you get a badass compliment, or you get criticism.
Here’s what I know and have learned about what I wear when I’m in front of people and actually a part of the show or presentation.
