One of the Most Powerful Manifesting Tools is at Your Fingertips!

“If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real.” Marie Forleo

So I looked at my calendar several years ago and realized my work appointments, my kid’s sports practices and my checkup at the dentist were the only things adorning my calendar. Where was my “Writing the best, viral blog ever” appointment? Where was the “Research those book agents” time?

My big fat dreams and goals sat in my mind, but not in black and white on my calendar, where they belonged; the only way they’d get real.

In B-School, a kickass online business program for entrepreneurs founded by Marie Forleo, she taught us to get the important stuff in the book. I get it, got it, and haven’t looked back since. The big stuff is on there now. So if you look at my calendar you’ll see stuff like: “Query Writing Class,” and “Brainstorm workshop idea.”

Some of these things, like the class, I sign up for and need to remind myself of, so I write it down. Others, like the workshop idea — normally one would just think about their desire to brainstorm, instead of actually protecting some time and doing the brainstorming. So the things relating to my desires, dreams, goals and future wants; they’re all in there now.

We have to make our big dreams a priority if we expect them to materialize. Wishing, hoping and thinking are cool, but actually scheduling them is better. It’s the action that’s the magic and scheduling is part of that action.

So what’s on your calendar?

I have an old-fashioned book — here’s a photo of it.

It’s a little worn cuz it’s almost October and it’s been opened and closed like a million times a day since January. I actually already bought my 2018 calendar — it’s the one behind the pink one. As soon as Staples advertised 2018 I was on it — a type-A organizing maniac at heart — I’ll grab the next year as soon as I can.

I love my calendars. Not only can I write everything in them but I can look back at my old ones and recap the year every year.

It’s a New Year’s Day journaling tradition I started when my kids were born. I scan the prior year’s pages and journal the year’s big events, and then I write each of my kids a letter on their birthday with the help of my notes from the year. My son is about to get his book of letters on his 18th birthday in March. Ooh, I felt that last sentence in my heart a little.

I put everything in my calendar. Everything that’s important anyway. My kid’s schedules and mine. My exercise time. My free time. My date nights. My big events. Birthdays. And the time I’ve scheduled to work toward new, exciting things.

My dreams are in there in the form of, “Research this,” and “Have lunch with this amazing person who’s been on stage talking about her book.” I have goals, and action steps for each goal, and a plan for my year. If I want that to feel real, I put it down.

This’s one of the biggest manifesting tools and it’s right at your fingertips, literally! Whether it’s digital, or paper, new-aged or old-school — pick a calendar and start scheduling your next level life today!
