The thing about mindset is we make everything mean something, including mindset. The visceral practice of awareness is more important. I’m going to tell you why, along with ten things about mindset that could change your life, if you’re willing to get curious.

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” Henry Ford

Henry had it right. But only to a certain level. The right mindset is cool, but action that aligns with your big vision is awesome, and will not be the result of anything you think hard enough about.

Taking action will give you the courage and confidence you’re craving. So it’s less about mindset and more about awareness; getting yourself to move with the visceral feeling of fear, and whatever you’re making that feeling mean.

I learned this after I knew public speaking was something I wanted to be good at. I was terrified. My body would go into a severe flight or fight response 30 minutes before I was to take the microphone. Heart beating out of my chest. Sweating. Jello legs. All of it. So I had to walk up from my seat in the audience at those first open mic nights with all that stuff going on. And I spoke anyway. They could see my paper shaking. And it was okay. The applause told me so. It would be so much better the next time.
