Welcome to day 19/31! Read the introduction blog with all the details about this series HERE.
For each day of the month follow these steps:
1. Read the entire exercise quietly.
2. Now read it out loud to yourself.
3. Read the suggested affirmation out loud to yourself. (Or make up your own!)
4. Practice the exercise for that day, as often as you can
5. Journal about it that night or the next morning (but soon after you practice is best)
Day 19 Exercise: Mirror
In your relationships I want you to practice mirroring. This is a tweak on the listening exercise. It forces you into the moment when someone is speaking and sharing themselves with you. It enhances understanding and communication. So today, when you’re in a conversation and listening, listen and then when the person is finished, repeat back to them what they said to you for clarification or further understanding. You can start with, “So I’m hearing you say that…” Later on, write in your journal about what happened when you practiced this.
Affirmation: Today I’m mirroring back what someone says with the intention of fully listening and understanding the people in my life.
