If These Were My Last Words
If these were my last words I’d tell you to go for the biggest love
and the wildest possible life.
I’d take you by the face
until the neighbors took notice
“You are an amazing miracle born for joy!”
I’d run us both to the mirror
and force us to really see ourselves
all the mess
all the beauty
all the soul.
And we’d laugh…
at life and ourselves
and the curious seriousness we’ve practiced for decades.
I’d tell you to have more fun
embrace your fear and run for the finish line.
I’d fill the room with music
and dance and sing
and remind you your body was made to move like that.
And that it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks about you;
you were born, so you’re worthy of love.
If these were my last words
I’d tell all the people
“I love you.”
“I’m grateful to have lived along side you.”
“I’m so happy we met.”
I’d convince you to risk more
And I’d talk you into that crazy thing you’ve always wanted to do.
I’d remind you that everything is energy.
And to make your days about figuring out how to raise that vibe.
I’d tell you not to waste your time
and to stop being late
to the stuff of your own life.
Show up for all of it.
Give yourself permission to feel everything.
Practice expressing the full-on you,
I’d tell you it’s exactly the you
you think is too much for the world
that the world needs desperately.
If these were the last words I gave away
I’d say, “Wasn’t this the most spectacular ride?”
And I’d smile
and wave goodbye.

A little side note: I asked the gals in my writing group to post their last words. It was a little challenge to them. And now, I’m challenging you. Post your blog with your last words and email me the link so I can like, clap and share for you! firstname.lastname@example.org
